United in Purpose: A Message from Our CEOs

As the CEOs of Epilepsy WA, Epilepsy Action Australia, and The Epilepsy Centre (SA & NT), we are proud to stand together in launching a truly national initiative: Step 4 Epilepsy.

This campaign is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a symbol of what can be achieved when organisations unite with a shared purpose: to improve the lives of people living with epilepsy across Australia.

Step 4 Epilepsy is a collaborative national fundraising campaign, powered by the combined efforts of our three organisations. United by a common mission, we are working together to raise vital funds and extend the campaign’s reach, directly improving the quality of support available to individuals and families affected by epilepsy.

This partnership is built on a simple but powerful idea: that we are stronger together! By pooling our resources, networks, and expertise, we can amplify our impact and ensure that no one living with epilepsy feels alone, no matter where they are in the country.

Our collaboration aims to maximise the reach and effectiveness of this campaign, while also celebrating the diversity and strength of the epilepsy community. Whether you’re in the beautiful wildflower state, the festival state, the top end, or somewhere on the east coast, Step 4 Epilepsy is your opportunity to step up, speak out, and show your support.

We know that epilepsy doesn’t discriminate. It affects people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. That’s why this campaign is designed to be inclusive, accessible, and most importantly fun! This isn’t just another walk … it’s a united movement. Step 4 Epilepsy is about coming together, across states and organisations, to take meaningful steps toward change. Whether you’re stepping in solidarity, rallying your community, or planning something wonderfully creative, every action contributes to a shared goal: improving the lives of people living with epilepsy. It’s the power of partnership that makes this campaign different and it’s that spirit of collaboration that will drive real impact.

Funds raised through Step 4 Epilepsy will go directly toward improving services, support, and education for people living with epilepsy. From Nurse helplines and seizure alert device loans to community outreach, face to face support groups and advocacy, your support helps us do more, reach further, and respond faster.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has already registered, donated, or shared the campaign. And if you haven’t yet, now is the perfect time to get involved. Together, we can take meaningful steps toward a future where people with epilepsy are understood, supported, and empowered.

On behalf of our organisations, thank you for stepping up with us and remember small steps can have a big impact!

With gratitude,
Emma Buitendag – CEO, Epilepsy WA
Carol Ireland – CEO, Epilepsy Action Australia
Robyn Wakefield – CEO, The Epilepsy Centre (SA and NT)
