Purple for Purpose Gala Dinner – A Night to Remember
Under the dazzling chandeliers of the Crown Towers Ballroom at Barangaroo, Epilepsy Action Australia hosted its annual Purple for Purpose Gala Dinner, bringing together passionate supporters for an evening of generosity, celebration and impact.
Hosted by Epilepsy Action Australia ambassador Lachlan Gillespie (the Purple Wiggle), an impressive lineup of speakers graced the stage. We heard from neurologist Dr Kaitlyn Parratt as well as Epilepsy Action Australian ambassador Matt Preston (renowned food journalist and tv personality).
CEO Carol Ireland facilitated a panel where we got to hear personal reflections from guest speakers:
- Laureate Professor Ingrid Scheffer (Physician-scientist, paediatric neurologist and epileptologist)
- Olivia Miles (Epilepsy and chronic illness advocate and motivational speaker)
- Stuart Place (Father of a child with epilepsy and founder of charity SLC6A1 kids)
The atmosphere was buzzing as guests enjoyed fine dining, entertainment, and inspiring stories increasing epilepsy education and awareness. Guests were treated to performances with Anthony Field from the Wiggles and a night of dancing with The Field Brothers. Many wonderful prizes were donated that raised funds on the night.
The event was a testament to the power of community and compassion, raising over $400,000 for vital epilepsy services. To everyone who attended, donated, volunteered or contributed in any way, we thank you for wonderful support.
