At just 2.5 years of age, Margot Daisy faces her battle with KCNQ2-linked epilepsy head-on. Her journey began with seizures striking at only 24 hours old. Despite her parents’ concerns, nurses initially brushed off the signs, attributing them to “mucus.” However, Margot’s parents persisted until a paediatrician witnessed a seizure and rushed her to the NICU.
Margot’s NICU stay lasted a challenging four weeks, marked by an unfortunate overdose on Phenobarbital. Unconscious for over a week due to the overdose, Margot emerged to face recurring seizures, plaguing her every hour. However, her resilience proved stronger, and her seizures have been under control since September.
Though her development may be gradual, Margot’s joy knows no bounds. Her infectious smile brightens the lives of everyone she encounters. This March, Margot’s entire family will be wearing purple to stand beside her and show their support for epilepsy awareness.
