ANNOUNCEMENT OF MEDICAL ADVISOR TO
EPILEPSY ACTION AUSTRALIA
DR KAITLYN PARRATT, neurologist and epileptologist, has been appointed the Medical Advisor to Epilepsy Action Australia.
This appointment formalises and strengthens the current working partnership that Dr Parratt already has with the organisation. Dr Parratt is also Vice President of the Epilepsy Society of Australia, Staff Specialist Neurologist in the Comprehensive Epilepsy Service at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and Consultant Neurologist at Sharp Neurology Pty Ltd.
Erica Siu-Gregan, Chair of the Board of Directors said she and her colleagues were delighted that Dr Parratt has agreed to become the Medical Advisor to Epilepsy Action Australia. “As a recognised expert in her field and provider of expertise in epilepsy patient care we are pleased to have Kaitlyn serve alongside our Board and management in this capacity”, she said.
Carol Ireland CEO and Managing Director said that Dr Parratt will play a key role in providing Management and the Board with independent specialised information, experience and skills, and critical thinking to increase the Board’s confidence in the decision-making process around clinical and support services. “Kaitlyn’s support and continued passion in raising awareness of epilepsy and the organisation is revered”, said Carol Ireland. “She is often considered my ‘partner in crime’ when it comes to raising awareness of epilepsy in the broader community, through media interviews and participating in major events.”

The timing of this announcement coincides with Make March Purple, an awareness campaign to share the realities of living with epilepsy and the reasons why this widely misunderstood condition needs to be seen, heard and talked about.
