Shop4Action – FAQs

Shop4Action is a way to shop online for regular branded products, through reputable retailers, where the more you buy through our website links, the higher the $ donated back to us from retailers as a commission.

In most categories, the donation back to us varies up to 20% of the sale total, with many products and retailers providing around 7-10% of the sale to us, all at no extra cost to you.

If you buy merchandise in the EAA Exclusives category, then the % returns to us are much higher, with up to 100% of the proceeds of sale received on our own merchandise.

Personal information collected by Epilepsy Action Australia is protected by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). Personal information is any information or an opinion that identifies you and includes sensitive and health information.

Epilepsy Action Australia follows the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act in handling personal information collected from clients/beneficiaries, business partners, donors, members of the public and Epilepsy Action Australia people (including members, volunteers, employees, delegates, candidates for volunteer work and prospective employees).

All personal information collected from individuals for purchases made with Epilepsy Action Australia (ie our own products within our EAA Exclusives category) will be securely stored by Epilepsy Action Australia and protected from unauthorised use or access. All reasonable steps will be taken to ensure information is accurate and up-to-date.

Australian Epilepsy Action Australia takes your security seriously and takes all reasonable steps to protect your information. No data transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

If you’re not comfortable with on-line purchasing just yet, you will only be able to use the following options for our own Epilepsy Action merchandise within the EAA Exclusives category (products from other retailers are not available using these methods):

  • If you would like to purchase Epilepsy Action’s own merchandise listed within the EAA Exclusives category, you can do a phone order for merchandise on 1300 37 45 37 or
  • Send an email to [email protected] with your phone and order details and we can call you to take your credit card details over the phone; or
  • Send us a letter with order details and a cheque or credit card details to Fundraising Team PO Box 384 North Ryde BC NSW 1670.

From the home page of Shop4Action, there are multiple ways to find what you want:

  • The home page has direct links to different categories of merchandise in the left margin.
  • Shop4Action is searchable. Click on the Index Search button, and enter the words for the product you are looking for.

For every item, you will be taken to the retailer website via our link. If you wish to make multiple purchases from one retailer, they will be added to one cart for check out. If you make purchases from different retailers they will need to be purchased separately from each supplier. Putting something in your shopping cart does not commit you to buying it. After you put something in your cart, you can choose to place the order immediately, or continue shopping or update the quantity.

If you are buying our own Epilepsy Action merchandise, you can put as many items as you want in your shopping basket from EAA Exclusives category where it’s our own stock

If you click on the ‘add to cart’ button and get no response, or you’re adding items to the cart but it still displays as empty there could be a number of reasons:

  • Your browser is not configured to accept cookies.
  • You need to click the Refresh or Reload button on your browser to update your screen.

You might not be able to connect securely to the Epilepsy Action server. As a test, try going to https://www.microsoft.com. If you can’t connect securely to Microsoft either, then either:

  • You are using a very old version of your browser, in which case you should upgrade;
  • Or you are behind a corporate firewall that won’t allow secure connections, so you may need to order from home.

Epilepsy Action Australia accepts the following credit cards for purchases for our own merchandise: Visa, American Express, Mastercard. The retailers on Shop4Action may have their own idiosyncratic exclusions but generally will take most credit cards.

Orders placed with Epilepsy Action for our own merchandise are sent by Australia Post. Please allow up to 10 days for delivery, however the average delivery time is generally less than a week as we fill and despatch orders quickly. Please contact us on 1300 37 45 37 if you have not received your order within 14 days. Australian Epilepsy Action Australia endeavours at all times to keep postage and handling rates to a minimum.

If you place an order through a retailer via the Shop4Action links, the delivery times and postage costs will be controlled by those retailers individually, so please check their website after you follow the product link. Be mindful of special event cut-off dates for ‘in time’ delivery times (eg pre-Christmas cut-off delivery dates).

Epilepsy Action Australia is committed to providing quality products to our customers. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with any product we will happily exchange, replace or refund your money if you purchased our own EAA product. Before you call us on 1300 37 45 37 please first check if the product you purchased was a general retail product purchased via a retailer link, in which case you will need to contact that retailer directly – their individual returns policy and contact details will be listed on their websites and probably on your emailed receipt and also on the delivery slip with the goods when they are received.

The Donation gift cards are treated as donations and are tax deductible. Your donation will be included on your tax receipt.
There is no postage & handling charge added to Donation gift cards.
