This half hour course has been designed for anyone wanting to learn more about epilepsy and is suitable for family members, carers, teachers and disability workers.

Epilepsy Essentials covers information about epilepsy and seizures, including descriptions and videos of different seizure types, as well as seizure first aid and management strategies. You will be required to complete a quiz at the end before receiving a certificate.

Taking approximately five hours to complete, this comprehensive training provides you with the skills and knowledge to administer emergency medications for seizures (Midazolam and Diazepam). You’ll learn about these medications and why they are used, how to manage prolonged and cluster seizures, your responsibilities during the process and how to practically administer the medications in a safe and timely manner. There are short answer questions, quizzes and a practical assessment required to complete this course.

*Please note that Epilepsy Essentials is a pre-requisite for this course.

Please allow approximately 5 hours to complete the theory component of this course, and additional time (3-5 working days) to received the required practical material via post and have your assessments marked by an Epilepsy Nurse Educator.
