Change Lives With a Cup of Tea
This November we would love your school to host an E-Tea morning or afternoon tea to help us celebrate Epilepsy Awareness Month and fundraise to help support people with the condition and their families.
It’s a great opportunity for you to gather your colleagues together for delicious treats, laughter, fun, fundraising, and very importantly to raise awareness of epilepsy.
You simply choose a date and time that suits you and we will send you a FREE goodie pack to help you get started containing lots of delicious treats as well as tea and coffee samples. You will also have access to all of our tips and tools to make your E-Tea event a great success, including posters, decorations, games, and checklists.
People can develop epilepsy at any stage of their lives but a large number have their first seizures during childhood or adolescence. Schools are huge supporters of the work we do here at Epilepsy Action and we are highly active in educating teachers about the needs of students with epilepsy and providing them with the resources and tools they need to effectively support them in the classroom.
Your assistance in raising funds will contribute to much-needed services and resources all designed to help improve the lives of people with epilepsy and their families including education on the condition throughout Australian schools.
Raising Awareness With Your Students
While involving students in a morning or afternoon tea may not be practical, there are still many ways you can have them join in the fun whilst promoting diversity in the classroom.
We’ve designed a range of ‘tea’ themed games and activities for your students to get involved in including colouring and creative art projects, trivia and outdoor team games. There is something that will suit your class and schedule.
By making a gold coin donation to participate they will also be helping to brighten the lives of those impacted by epilepsy.
Once you register we will give you access to all our downloadable resources with ideas, detailed game information and worksheets, and we’ll send you a FREE prize pack of items to reward the winning students of the games!
Epilepsy is common in children with one child in 20 (or 5 per cent) having at least one seizure during their childhood. Hosting an E-Tea also takes on a special significance if any of your students have the condition. Children with epilepsy often suffer negative reactions from their classmates so hosting an event like this provides a great opportunity to talk openly about the condition and dispel some of the myths and fears that still widely exist.
