Carers

Carers Queensland (also known as the Queensland Council of Carers)
Provides carers with information and services to support them in their caring role. We also work to increase awareness of carers and their issues. Carers provide unpaid support and assistance to a family member or friend who has a disability, physical or mental illness, or is frail aged. For information and support carers can call the Commonwealth Carer Resource Centre on 1800 242 636.

Queensland Centre for Intellectual and Developmental Disability (QCIDD)
An academic centre engaged in clinical, educational and research activities aimed at improving health services to adults with developmental disability. It supports generic medical practitioners caring for the developmental disability population and can be contacted for advice or referral. Telephone (07) 3840 2412

Specialist Healthcare for Adults with Intellectual Disability (SHAID)
The clinic provides tertiary level comprehensive medical care for adults (aged 18 years and over) with intellectual disability in diagnoses management, planning of health issues, health promotion and the home hospital interface.

The Brain Injury Association of Queensland
Is the peak disability organisation in Queensland for those living with acquired brain injury.
