In 1952, concerned parents and interested persons founded the Epileptic Welfare Association in Sydney. Today, Epilepsy Action operates throughout Australia, with a highly skilled Board and executive management team guiding more than 100 staff.

A Board of up to 12 members ensures effective corporate governance, policy, strategic direction and accountability at Epilepsy Action, which is a company limited by guarantee.
With backgrounds in banking and finance, law, sport, communications, marketing and medicine, the Board´s primary role is the protection and enhancement of the long-term value of Epilepsy Action. The Board has delegated responsibility for operation and administration to the Chief Executive Officer and executive team.

Carol Ireland - Chief Executive Officer
Carol´s extensive background in the not-for-profit human services sector has included chief operations and general management roles.
Greg Laws - General Manager, Corporate Services
Greg previously held positions as Head of Corporate Services with Gateway Credit Union and a variety of senior corporate service roles.
Gillian Gardner - Business Development Manager
For 20 years Gillian has worked in a number of medium and large not-for-profit organisations in a range of management positions. Her responsibilities have included services and relationship marketing, strategic development, major funding relationships, communications, promotions, sponsorship and events.
Vic Zacharias - Funding Development Manager
Vic´s responsibilities have included managing all aspects of fundraising. He is also a member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia, NSW Chapter, Executive Committee.
Shauna Round – Marketing Communications Manager
Shauna has over 17 years marketing experience and has worked for a number
of not-for-profit organisations including Habitat for Humanity Australia,
Life Education NSW and Wesley Conference Centre, leading the marketing
departments.
Staff
A team of full-time, part-time and casual staff provide a range of specialist services, fundraising and corporate services. Educators and other community services staff have a high level of technical expertise and knowledge. A national call centre is in touch with people around Australia for fundraising and service evaluation. Volunteers also assist across many roles.
