What does it mean?

Do you know what to do if you see someone having a big seizure?

How You Can Help

  • Don't be afraid - stay calm, the person will be okay
  • Stay with the person
  • Don't try to stop them from shaking
  • Look at the time when the seizure starts - if you can
  • Move any toys or objects out of the way, so they don't hurt themselves
  • Put something soft under their head, like a rolled up jumper
  • If you can, when the shaking stops, turn them on their side in the recovery position - and tilt their head back slightly
  • Get help - call a grown-up and do what they ask you to do
  • If there is no grown-up, call 000, tell them that you need an ambulance and where you are
  • Stay with the person until the ambulance arrives

To get help, call an ambulance (000 in Australia)
