People hardly ever die from a seizure. If they do die, most times it is from an accident.

Seizures can make you feel very frightened. If you wake up after a seizure and people around you is worried, you may worry too.

Some places are dangerous to have a seizure

  • like in the swimming pool and the sea, where you can drown
  • or when you are crossing a road where you can get run over
  • or when you are climbing high or on playground things that are high up, and you can fall a long way

Sometimes, if someone has a seizure and they fall, they may hurt themselves badly or hit their head. They might even need to go to hospital.

Most seizures last just a few seconds or minutes and you are back to normal after a rest.

Lots of children grow out of their seizures, so they don't have them anymore when they are grown up.
